Biomatrix Cartoon Curriculum

The content of the Cartoon Curriculum is similar to that of the Biomatrix Education Program and the Biomatrix Books, albeit from a different perspective. The education programme and books are more academic, while the cartoons should entertain

Purpose of the Biomatrix Cartoon Currriculum

Create awareness that a new worldview is needed

Chapter one describes the current thinking about how to solve the problems of the world.

This should demonstrate that current thinking and currently proposed solutions to problems are insufficient to solve them and that a new worldview is needed.

Encourage a shift in thinking

Most people resist new thinking and shy away from learning new ideas, especially if they are derived from a radically different view of the world. The cartoon format is an entertaining and light-hearted way of presenting difficult concepts and should therefore alleviate the fear of the change.

Teach w/holistic theory and methodology

In chapter two a futurist appears and explains to the kids that most of the current problems are co-produced by systems based on reductionist thinking and that they need to be transformed using a w/holistic methodology derived from a w/holistic theory (which are taught in Chapter 2 of the curriculum).

Make learning more fun

Cartoons contain pictures which add meaning to the words, engage the emotions and add insights, making learning easier and more fun for the reader.

Make learning more digestible

Cartoons allow a question / answer format of presenting knowledge, thereby making it easier to understand and digest new concepts.

Initiating societal change

The curriculum should inspire and encourage people to initiate the (re)design of the system of their concern.

“Every beginning is an act of freedom”. (Novalis, 1772 – 1801)

Inspire hope

The curriculum should generate hope that COLLECTIVELY we CAN change our shared societal systems.

“Nothing less than the refashioning of the world is at stake”. (Novalis, 1772 – 1801).

Content of the Biomatrix Cartoon Curriculum

The Biomatrix Cartoon Curriculum on W/Holistic Societal Problem (Dis)Solving consists of the following:

OVERVIEW

This section explains the concept of the current and ideal future and the structure of the curriculum. It also provides an overview of the content and lists the underlying assumptions.

CHAPTER 1: Journey towards a Current Future

Chapter 1 describes how a bunch of kids (who are concerned with the current state of the world) visit experts to ask them “How can we solve the problems of the world?” They visit mainstream and alternative experts in the following areas:

PART 1-1:  Finance, Business and Economics

            PART 1-2:  Politics and Military

PART 1-3:  Science, Philosophy and Religion

PART 1-4:  Technology, Energy and Environment

            PART 1-5Psychology and Medicine

PART 1-6 Media, Art and Education

CHAPTER 2: Journey towards the Ideal Future

Chapter 2 describes how the Futurist manifests to teach the kids (who are disillusioned from their journey to the experts) WHY the problems of the world cannot be solved and HOW they could be dissolved. The teaching consists of the following:

            PART 2-1Meeting the Futurist

PART 2-2:  Worldview: Reductionism and W/Holism

PART 2-3:  Theory of W/Holism: Biomatrix Systems Theory

            PART 2-4 Understanding Complexity

            PART 2-5:  Understanding System Change

PART 2-6:  Biomatrix System (Re)Design Methodology

                        PART 2-6-1:  Exploration Phase

                        PART 2-6-2:  Design Phase

                        PART 2-6-3:  Implementation Phase

            PART 2-7:  W/Holistic Change Management

            PART 2-8:  Summary and Conclusion
