| BiomatrixWeb is a network of management consultants who offer systemic management education and change management programmes.
The purpose of the programmes is to create private and public sector organisations that can learn, dissolve complex problems, make creative and sustainable strategic designs and facilitate their own change interventions.
The programmes are based on the Biomatrix Systems Approach.
Biomatrix Systems Approach
Biomatrix Systems Theory is a theory of organisation. It describes how systems in nature, society and technology are organised and how they change.
Due to its unique theoretical and methodological contributions, Biomatrix Systems Approach integrates different systems theories and methodologies into one coherent meta-systems theory and methodology.
Biomatrix Management Programmes
We apply the Biomatrix Systems Approach in the following three areas:
Management Education
The Biomatrix Management Education Programme teaches systems thinking for managers and leaders.
It explains key concepts of systems thinking and principles of organisation and applies them to systemic problem dissolving, organisational (re)design, systemic strategy development and change management.
Organisational Change Management
The Biomatrix Organisational Change Management Programme is designed to transform private and public sector organisations into learning entities.
It involves training internal change managers in the Biomatrix Systems Approach to organisational change management.
The practical projects of the education programme include an organisation-wide survey that leads to a full organisational diagnosis. This is followed by the design of appropriate change interventions and implementation plans.
Change managers also generate the alignment of stakeholders around the design and facilitate the roll-out of the implementation.
The outcome of the programme is a systemic learning organisation, wired for ongoing self-managed change and learning. It can respond rapidly and creatively to environmental change and operate in a sustainable manner.
Societal Change Management
The Biomatrix Societal Change Management Programme is designed for dissolving complex societal problems and creating innovative public policy and industry strategy (re)designs.
Change facilitators, fully trained in the Biomatrix Systems Approach to societal change management, work in teams on a specific societal problem or industry related issue.
The teams analyse and redesign the systems associated with the issue and make implementation plans. Online templates guide the design and planning process.
The teams also interact with key stakeholders and facilitate the setting up of strategic partnerships between the private, public and NGO sectors.
The outcomes of this programme are systemic strategic partnerships and designs that – if implemented - dissolve complex societal problems and transform whole industries.
Biomatrix Programmes are education driven
All Biomatrix Programmes use education as the vehicle to drive change in organisations and society.
Our aim is to provide public and private sector organisations with sufficient know-how to allow them to analyse their problems, design their ideal future and move towards it.
The delivery of our programmes is based on
E-learning to transfer knowledge to a large number of participants simultaneously.
Action learning to apply the theory practically to a project relevant to the learner and the organisation.
Individual learning of the theory and methodology involving e-learning and its application to a project associated with the learner’s function.
Team-learning involving reflection on the theory and methodology and the design of the change interventions that transform the organisation into a systemic learning organisation.
Train the trainer to allow advanced users to become change managers and trainers, coached and monitored by BiomatrixWeb.
Frameworks and templates to guide the problem analysis, design, planning and change management processes.
Knowledge management software to support the integration of large amounts of data and establish the structure for the learning repositories of the organisation.
Quality control by BiomatrixWeb to ensure that the intervention designs, implementation plans and implementation are systemic and relevant.
Designer of Biomatrix Programmes
The Biomatrix Programmes were developed by Dr Elisabeth Dostal based on her extensive experience as a futurist, management consultant and management educator.
Elisabeth is also a member of the Biomatrix Group, a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, who co-developed Biomatrix Systems Theory in the course of a PhD programme at the University of Cape Town.
